Feature

No account. No cloud. No tracking.

You should not have to hand over an email address to write down a nitrate reading.

FreeOfflineNo account

The app is local-first by design. There is no account system, no server that holds your tank history, and no analytics SDK inside the binary. That is not a marketing posture — it is a smaller surface area, fewer failure modes, and one less password in your life.

What this means in practice

  • It works on a plane, in a basement fish room, or at a show with no signal.
  • Nothing to breach: there is no account database to lose.
  • No session to expire, no password reset, no “verify your email” wall on first launch.
  • CSV export means the data is still portable — offline is not a lock-in.

The honest trade-off

Local-first means the device is the source of truth. If you lose the phone and have no backup, the log goes with it. Export to CSV regularly, or rely on your normal device backup — the app does not quietly create a copy you did not ask for.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does it sync between iPhone and iPad?
Device sync is not part of the current release. The app is local-first; use CSV export if you need to move history between devices.
Do you collect analytics or crash reports?
No. The App Store privacy label for FishTank Diary reads data not collected.
